Catherine's Cause is an organization that is strongly against drunk driving. It was founded after MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) reorganized and left Carroll County, Maryland. The organization has around 15 active volunteers, including police officers, paramedics, and grandparents. While the volunteers come from different professions, they all share a common concern for the safety of others, especially parents. The money raised by Catherine's Cause is used to support the local community through grants to various organizations such as the Maryland Special Olympics, law enforcement agencies, and scholarships for young people interested in becoming teachers. The organization is committed to educating people who have been convicted of DUI or DWI and making them aware of the consequences of their actions. They hold Victim Impact Forums every other month at the Carroll County Nonprofit Center.
